The CoST Champion:

It pleased His Excellency the President, Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika to appoint the vice president of the Republic, Rt. Hon. Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima to Champion the CoST initiative here in Malawi. The appointment was made in February, 2015.

The primary role of the CoST Champion is to offer leadership and support to the CoST initiative in the country giving CoST activities high visibility, spreading knowledge of CoST at senior levels, encouraging media and other interest and support, and helping to open doors when necessary.
He is the national point of contact on CoST for high ranking colleagues and other key governance bodies (e.g. Parliament, the Presidency etc), foreign Ambassadors and ranking members of relevant regional and international organisations such as the African Union and the World Bank, as well as other Development Partners (DPs).
The champion represents his country at high-level international meetings, where diaries permit.  Perhaps the most important contribution of the Champion will be to use his strategic position to help overcome challenges at key moments.
